Testimonials

  • “...Traveling and competing for over 2 decades has always given me immense pleasure. While I represent my instructor/school/style, being a part of the WKC national team offered a whole new sense of pride. Nothing compares to the feeling of representing my country in the WKC World Championships. It was an electric experience with unmatched intensity and excitement...”
    Gamal Byfield, Brooklyn, NY
  • “The WKC Championships was a very memorable experience for our whole family. Nick (9) and Justin (8) will never forget all the people they met from the U.S.A. and all the other countries. What we all liked was how everyone on Team USA treated you like part of a family. It didn't matter if you didn't know them before, all the U.S. Team trained together and cheered for everyone. We look forward to trying out for the next WKC World Championships!”
Stephanie, Kevin, Nick, and Justin Nowakowski, Lake Orion, Michigan
  • “The WKC World Championships is absolutely the BEST tournament I have ever been to! The organization of the tournament, the judging, the INTENSE COMPETITION, and the overall camaraderie that comes with representing your country with fellow competitors is what makes this event special! WKC isn't just a tournament, it is a once in a life time experience!”
    Troy Binns, Brooklyn, NY
  • “ Competing at the WKC World Championships was one of the most inspiring experiences I’ve had on the tournament circuit. After years of competing in local and regional events, nothing compared to representing the USA National team in a tournament out of the country. Standing on the medal podium, with the American flag wrapped around my shoulders, and hearing the American National Anthem play brought tears to my eyes…. Every tournament with WKC was well run, organized and everyone was welcoming and friendly! Being part of the team was like being part of a family. I can’t wait to do it again…. I recommend everyone that has the opportunity, go for it! It is so worth it! ”
    Katie Murphy, Lagrange, NY

A Few Words About the WKC

  • What is the World Karate/Kickboxing Commission (WKC)?

The World Karate and Kickboxing Commission is an organization dedicated to mat sport martial arts. The WKC is recognized as the fastest growing sport martial arts organization in the world. The growth is due to a simple mandate of “the competitor comes first”. Each year the WKC promotes a world championship. Teams from across the world participate in order to crown world champions in three disciplines: forms; point sparring; and continuous sparring.
  • Who is eligible?

WKC America will have several regional qualifiers across the United States. These events are open to all martial arts styles and schools. Divisions are divided by age, style, and weight depending on the category.
  • How do I qualify for the World Championships?

WKC America offers USA athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest level in a true world championship against martial artists from around the world. The qualification process is fair and allows everyone equal opportunity to become a member of TEAM USA. The process is simple. The top 4 finishers at a WKC Regional Qualifier held during the months of February through May are invited to compete at the WKC USA Nationals in Detroit in June. The top 4 finishers at the WKC Nationals are eligible to compete at the WKC World Championships as part of TEAM USA. Each country can enter four competitors per division at the world championships.
